Your successful brewery begins with vision and a well designed plan. The planning and design phase is when you gather your thoughts and dreams of your award winning brewery and begin the process of turning it into a reality! It is important to put together a team of professionals that have experience with opening up a brewery. The teams typically consists of a realtor to find the property, an architect to assist with all code related issues and design of the brewery, MEP engineers for all building and brewing infrastructure, brewing contractor to build and coordinate associated work, and a brewery supplier for assisting with brewery equipment, layout and continued growth. We can point you in the right direction or handle this process with you.
A permit application with building plans are submitted to the governing county or city Permit Center for plan review by all relevant disciplines. Each discipline will approve or put a hold on the process so corrections can be made. Final building permit approval will not be given until all disciplines and external agencies have approved and stamped the plans. Typically, plans are routed through:
Equipment acquisition is primarily brewing equipment. However, there are also other components such as walk-in coolers, boilers, chillers, CO2, appliances, kitchen equipment, etc. depending on how you design your brewery. The selection of your equipment will be based on cost, time for fabrication, warranties, reputation of the supplier and the ease of a working relationship with the suppliers representative.
